Tehran, June 20, IRNA – A Tanzanian publisher said here Sunday that Muslim publishers should be provided with necessary financial support in order to survive.

Director of Tanzania Al-Etra Foundation, Mehboob Jafferal Somji, said as for Muslim publishers active in his own country, it should be said that extension of necessary financial resources to them is crucial as they provide books and works in Swahili to a large number of people east of Africa.
Asked about copyright, he said he does not agree to that as it is something suiting only the western states. He said copyright does not work for Muslim publishers in his country because they offer works of noble persons in Swahili not for profit but to raise public awareness.
He said the west is trying hard to insinuate its culture to Muslims, who are dormant.
He added that Muslims should get awakened and not to adopt Western culture.
Speaking in an interview with IRNA on the sidelines of the International Conference of Islamic World Publishers, he said his goal is publication of Quran in Swahili language in his country.
