With only a few days to the East African Common market; organisations are laying strategies as they seek to get an upper hand in setting the pace for competition. Ms Sarah Nakibuuka, the PSFU public relations officer said in an interview with Daily Monitor that soon East Africa will be an open market; therefore, Uganda needs to prepare for such a big and challenging market.

She said “This is an opportunity for the business community to market their businesses through the Directory as it will be distributed throughout East Africa.”

Showing potential
The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) joined the foray to showcase its potential with the introduction of a Private Sector Business Directory covering different sectors of private business.

The directory carries detailed information on trade and investment, trade opportunities, making it a very useful and regular reference for the policy makers in private and public sectors, donors as well as the general business/trading fraternity.

Tap in regional market
She said the Directory will ensure Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises growth and development by helping them tap into the regional and international markets through circulation of the directory copies to sister private sector organisations in the region. The hard copy of the Directory will be supplemented by the online version, which will help in business accessibility around the region.
