According to IRNA reporter in Damascus, Nayef Hawatmeh made the comment in a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Seyyed Ahmad Mousavi, announcing that the Palestinian people and resistance groups support the Islamic Republic of Iran in confrontation with the oppressive UN Security Council resolutions.
Hawatmeh praised Iran’s resistance against the oppressive moves of the United States and the Zionist regime, adding, “The resistance groups and the Palestinian people are strongly opposed to the US and the international Zionists’ policies regarding the Middle East and share Iran’s stands in such respects.”
Iran’s ambassador to Syria, too, said, “Past experience proves that sanctions, economic embargoes and the like cannot have any negative effects on the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
He added, “During the past 31 years the sanctions have only led to technological and scientific advancement of our country.”
