Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Friday that Tehran is ready for cooperation and consultation with others on restoration of peace in east of Africa.
Mottaki, who is on an official visit to Uganda, told his Ugandan counterpart Sam Kuteesa that Tehran is prepared for further expansion of ties with Kampala in the political, economic and cultural spheres.
The Iranian top diplomat said Iranian economic centers and private sector are ready to upgrade cooperation and raise economic exchanges with Uganda. He said Iranian investors are willing to contribute to Uganda’s industrial, development, oil and agricultural projects.
He said unlimited expansion of relations and cooperation with African states, Uganda in particular, is a priority of Iran’s foreign policy.
Kuteesa said in turn that his country wants cooperation with Iran in the pharmaceutical and health sectors.
Mottaki is to meet Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni shortly after meeting with his counterpart. Uganda is now a rotating member of the UN Security Council.
Mottaki will visit Kenya on the second leg of his African tour.
