the Presidential Office website reported President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying so in a meeting here Monday evening with Zimbabwe’s Government Minister for Presidential Affairs, Didbemos Mutsa, while discussing expansion of comprehensive bilateral ties in political, cultural, economic and commercial fields.
He said, “Rapid implementation of the previously reached agreements can pave the path for further expansion of bilateral relations in various fields more than ever before.”
The president pointed out that both Iran and Zimbabwe have broad potentials for improvement of relations and for boosting the level of cooperation, adding, “By identification and taking advantage of the potentials and increasing the level of cooperation it is possible to take important and effective steps in deepening and strengthening relations.”
The president referred to the western countries’ imposed sanctions against Zimbabwe, reiterating, “The Islamic Republic of Iran would remain by the side of Zimbabwe to the extent it can manage and proportionate with its share.”
Ahmadinejad reiterated, “Illegally imposed pressure of the oppressor powers aimed at urging the Zimbabweans to surrender to their will is denounced.”
The president added, “The independence of Zimbabwe bothers them and they wish to exert their hegemony against your country as they did a 100 years ago.”
Pointing out that the grandeur of the oppressor powers is on the verge of collapsing, he said, “The independent and freedom seeking nations’ future are bright and brilliant”
The special envoy of President Robert Mugabe, too, in the meeting delivered President Mugabe’s massage to his Iranian counterpart, asking for expansion of comprehensive ties.
He said, “The rich potentials and resources in Zimbabwe have provided an appropriate ground for making joint investments and cooperation.”
He also emphasized the need for implementing the reached agreements between the two countries, arguing, “Zimbabwe is interested in taking advantage of the experiences of the Islamic Republic of Iran and attracting your country’s investments in various economic and commercial fields.”
