KHARTOUM, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Sudan and South Sudan will resume their negotiations on outstanding issues in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Thursday under the mediation of the African Union, Sudanese media reported.

"Sudan and South Sudan will resume in Addis Ababa Thursday their negotiations as agreed in the previous round," Khartoum- based Al Tayar daily said.

Meanwhile, Al Ray Al Am daily quoted Sudanese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Al-Obaid Ahmed Mirawih as saying that "Sudan's participation in the meetings of the joint political and security committee in Addis Ababa today will be at the level of technicians and experts."

The spokesman said that the level of Sudan's participation would be raised if a breakthrough is achieved by the technicians and experts, according to the report.

The current round of negotiations comes after the eruption of limited clashes between armies of the two countries on the border area in the past days.

Sudan and South Sudan have signed a framework agreement at the end of the previous round of negotiations on issues relating to border demarcation and conditions of the two countries' citizens.

The two sides, however, failed to reach an agreement on the issue of oil transit fees that caused Juba to halt oil exportation through Sudan after Khartoum decided to deduct the fees in from of crude oil.
