20120814 AP NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — A Kenyan official say that three out of four Ugandan military helicopters that had been dispatched to join African Union forces in Somalia have gone missing in Kenyan airspace.
Kenyan Military spokesman Bogita Ongeri said Monday that only one helicopter out of the four that left Entebbe in Uganda landed in Kenya's military air base in the northern town of Garissa.
Ongeri says one of the pilots from the missing helicopters radioed from the Mount Kenya region and the Kenyan military launched a search and rescue operation. Poor visibility is hampering their efforts.
