20120905 AP ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast (AP) — World Bank President Jim Young Kim arrived in Ivory Coast on Tuesday to begin his first overseas visit since being appointed in April.
The Bank said in a statement that during his visit, Kim will meet with President Alassane Ouattara and senior cabinet members as well as women leaders and ex-combatants taking part in a World Bank-financed training program.
Kim said he chose Africa for his first visit to recognize "the priority given by the continent's governments to faster growth and less poverty."
Kim is scheduled to travel to South Africa on Wednesday.
