At least six people, including four students have been killed after fire burnt through an entire dormitory at a secondary school in Kenya, Press TV reports.

The incident happened on Sunday night, at Le Pic Secondary School in Riruta area in Kenya’s capital city of Nairobi.

According to police officials, charred bodies of five students and a caretaker have been recovered from the site so far.

“Five victims were burned beyond recognition while one girl who was choked fainted and died. Two others were admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital(KNH),” police officer Cornelius Wamalwa said.

Kenya Power personnel, fire fighting agencies and engineers from the Ministry of Public Works and Education officials are investigating the cause of the fire.

"The government is going to carry out a proper audit to assess the safety measures for schools to ensure they conform to the standards of the ministry," Nairobi Provincial Commissioner Njoroge Ndirangu said.

The incident marks the second deadly tragedy that has hit the east African nation in a month.

On Oct 5, a couple and their six children died after a fire set a blaze an entire school staff quaret in the town of Malindi.

In August, a fire also destroyed a dormitory at Asumbi Boarding Primary School in Homa Bay County, resulting in the death of eight pupils who were part of a group of 85 retained for holiday education.
