Hundreds of Egyptian football players and fans have organized a march towards the presidential palace here asking for the national premier league to be resumed after a decision to stop it indefinitely, official news agency MENA reported on Sunday.
The protestors chanted "the premier should come back", "Morsi, the league", in reference to the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, "people wants the league again". But the march impeded the flow of traffic, and caused disputes between the cars' drivers and the footballers.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) on Monday decided to postpone the games of the premier league 2012-2013 indefinitely due to security reasons.
The matches of the premier league were scheduled to kick off on Oct. 17. But the Interior Ministry, the clubs' fans as well as the families of the victims from a football riot are hindering the games from taking place.
