Tunisia's tourism is likely to suffer from the international media reports on its domestic Jihadi Salafist violence, chairman of the country's hotel federation, Mohamed Belajouza, said on Mosaique FM Tuesday.
"Bookings for the following season have suspended," the official warned.
Belajouza said he hoped the negative media reports would not affect the tourism industry, especially not affect the French tourists, who are Tunisia's biggest tourist source.
The official also said since 2001, about 1 million German tourists visited Tunisia each year. However, the number is " rapidly dwindling now."
The official slammed the Tunisian government for failing to react in time to the violence.
A few days ago, Tunisia's Tourism Minister Elyes Fakhfakh said if Salafist violence in Tunisia goes on, 2013 would be a " catastrophic" year for the country's tourism sector.
