A group of refugees in the Choucha camp in southern Tunisia on Monday protested against the UN refugee agency's decision to close the camp in June 2013, Shems FM reported.
In a statement issued on Monday, the head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Tunis said all efforts to find a host country for the refugees had been exhausted.
When the camp closes in June, hundreds of refugees, most of them African, will be left stranded without food or shelter, further aggravating their plight.
The Choucha refugee camp has been home to thousands of refugees who claim that they want to be transferred to other countries rather than their own, fearing reprisals and violence in their home countries.
