Arab and European foreign ministers met Tuesday in the Cairo-based Arab League (AL) over the latest developments in Syria and the Palestinian issue.
AL Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi reiterated the pan-Arab body's welcome to the newly-formed Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces.
He also urged all the European countries to support the Palestinians' bid for the status of an observer state in the United Nations, underlining the AL's intention of "boosting the Arab-European cooperation."
Most of the Arab foreign ministers, along with more than 17 European ones, attended the meeting. The EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and the UN-AL joint special representative to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi were also present at the meeting.
For his part, Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour said the whole world should work together to solve the Syrian crisis and achieve peace and security in Syria and the whole region.
On Monday, the AL recognized the newly-formed Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces as the " representative of the aspirations of Syrian people."
