A truck collided with a microbus in Sixth of October City, 32 km from Egypt's capital Cairo, Saturday afternoon, leaving 12 killed and several others injured, the official Ahram online reported.
The accident took place around 3:00 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) on the Wahat highway connecting Sixth of October City and Faiyum governorate.
Primary investigations showed that the truck driver lost control to the steering wheel and the truck rammed into the microbus.
Egypt's traffic system has a poor safety record. Hours before the accident, a train crashed with a school bus in southern Egypt, leaving over 40 children killed.
