Tunisia closed its side of the Ras El Jedir border crossing with Libya on Monday following a sit-in by local businessmen, official TAP press agency reported.
Some 1,000 vehicles have been blocked on the Libyan side awaiting clearing, after the Libyan authorities passed new legislation on export, according to the report.
Tension between Tunisian salesmen and Libyan border guards have been simmering over the past days due to the new legislation which limits the amount of goods imported from Libya.
