Sudan and Libya on Friday agreed to revise the integration agreements between them to serve the interests of the two peoples.

"Sudan and Libya have agreed to revise and reactivate the integration agreements between the two countries on new bases to serve the interests of the two peoples," said a joint statement at the conclusion of a visit by Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zaidan to Sudan on Friday.

"The two sides have agreed to convene the meetings of the joint ministerial committee between the two countries as soon as possible to reactivate the agreements between them," added the statement.

The statement called for reactivating the regional cooperation for the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) on new bases that stand on cooperation and mutual benefits for the people of the region.

The two sides have also agreed to speed up the procedures concerning the preparation for a security agreement in a regional cooperation conference to include Sudan, Libya, Niger and Chad to achieve security and stability in the region, it said.

The statement expressed the two sides' satisfaction over the signing of a military cooperation agreement and the beginning of the deployment of joint forces on the two courtiers' border.

The Libyan prime minister started Thursday a visit to Khartoum, during which he held talks with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and a number of government officials.
