Iran will build six oil refineries in African countries in the near future, Tehran Times daily reported on Monday.
Iranian energy official Hassan Khosrojerdi was quoted as saying Iran has signed memorandums of understanding with six African countries and has started to look for appropriate places to establish the refineries.
The refineries are projected to have a capacity of 20,000 barrels per day, said Khosrojerdi without revealing the six African countries.
In March, Fars news agency reported that Iran had come to terms with Algeria, Angola and South Africa on building refineries in these countries.
