Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki said Japan has agreed to finance three major projects in Tunisia, the TAP press agency reported Saturday.
Marzouki said so after meeting Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Saturday. Marzouki is currently on a visit to Japan to attend the three-day Fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development.
The projects will be a flood prevention work in the Medjerda basin in western Tunisia, a desalination plant in the city of Sfax, and another project will include the setting up of a power plant in Rades near Tunis, said the report.
Marzouki said the technology transfer associated with these projects "will benefit Tunisia."
