The Nigerian House of Representatives will on Thursday begin to visit a number of Nigerian missions abroad as part of its oversight functions, according to the lower chamber of the West African country.
Chairperson of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs Nnenna Elendu-Ukeje told reporters in Abuja on Wednesday that the visit would take the lawmakers to selected missions in Africa, Europe, the Americas and Asia.
She said lawmakers are to have an on-the-spot assessment of the state of Nigerian embassies abroad during the visit.
They will have an opportunity to know the staff of the embassies, their functions and welfare.
The committee will also verify the amount of money appropriated and released to each mission for the 2013 fiscal year and how the money was expended, she added.
