The transitional President of the Central African Republic Michel Djotodia arrived in Sudan's capital Khartoum on Monday for a two-day visit, during which he is due to hold talks with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and other government officials, official news agency (SUNA) reported.
It is Diotodia's first visit to Sudan since he assumed power following a military coup in March.
"The visit comes as part of the historical relations between the two African states," Sudanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Salah Wanasi was quoted as saying.
The Sudanese minister attached great importance to the visit as Central Africa Republic shares borders with Sudan, noting that it is necessary for the two countries to have good relations so as to achieve stability and development in the region.
He further noted that the two countries have high-level joint committees in many security, political and economic fields.
