Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal vowed Saturday to take his nationals in Egypt back home in case of danger.
"Algerians living in Egypt are fine so far. However, the state is ready to bring them back home in case of any problem," Sellal told reporters at the sidelines of the wrapping up of a spring session of the National Assembly (the upper house of parliament).
On Wednesday, the Egyptian army ousted Mohamed Morsi after days of mass protests against his rule, and assigned Adli Mansour, chief of Egypt's Supreme Constitutional Court, to run the country for a transitional period.
Egypt's military forces have also arrested the Muslim Brotherhood's senior officials over charges of inciting the killing of anti-Morsi protesters.
Clashes between supporters and opponents of Morsi erupted, and a number of protesters have been killed.
