An international defense committee will soon be designated to find out the truth in the killing of Chokri Belaid, a secular Tunisian opposition figure, earlier this year, said a spokesman of the investigation initiative late on Saturday.
A French lawyer has been appointed and an international panel of well-known foreign political figures will soon be designated, said the spokesman.
Belaid, leader of left wing National Front coalition, was killed on Feb. 6. His assassination sparked one of the country's worst political crisis in history, prompting the resignation of the government of former Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali and the nomination of a cabinet composed of technocrats.
For his part, Hamma Hammami, spokesman of Belaid's coalition, said the committee will seize international justice following the end of judicial procedures in Tunisia.
