Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on Monday dismissed several officials in fight against corruption in the West African country.
One of the officials dismissed is Auditor General Robert Kilby, who was blamed for failure to enforce financial management and procurement laws.
The president also sacked Director General of the General Services Agency Pearine Davis-Pakinson for approving contracts "in violation of our procurement laws and procedures."
Other dismissals involve Deputy Minister of Justice for Administration and Public Safety Freddie Taylor, Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration for Operations Robert Budy and Director of Border Management Cllr. Wilson Garpeh.
Meanwhile, the president set up a team headed by the minister of labor to come up with measures against officials involved in corruption cases
President Sirleaf, among others, suspended Deputy Minister for Public Works for Operations Victor Smith for failure to adhere to the public procurement and financial rules of the government in the awarding of construction contracts. "Join me in our continued fight against corruption," she said in her speech.
