Thousands of Tunisians have held a demonstration in the capital, Tunis, to condemn the Israeli regime’s attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip.
About 2,000 people took to the streets of Tunis on Friday to voice their anger at Tel Aviv’s aggression against Palestinians living in the blockaded enclave.
Waving flags of Palestine, Tunisia and the Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas, the protesters shouted slogans such as “The people want the liberation of Palestine.”
The demonstrators were also holding placards reading, “Stop to the war against Gaza.”
“The world, with all its organizations and institutions, watches this odious crime without demanding whether it is more than just a cry of terror,” said Nabil Boulifi, a Tunisian civil servant who attended the protest.
Nearly 120 Palestinians, including many women and children, have so far been killed since Israel began pounding targets in the Gaza Strip earlier this week.
The Tel Aviv regime has already approved mobilization of up to 40,000 additional troops into Gaza.
The Israeli military frequently launches indiscriminate attacks against Palestinians residing in Gaza, which has remained literally cut off from the outside world by a crippling Israeli blockade since 2007.
Over 160 Palestinians were killed and about 1,200 others were injured in Israel’s eight-day war on the coastal sliver, which ended on November 21, 2012.
