Six people have died and more than two dozen others have been injured in a collision between a bus and a train in northeastern Tunisia.
Medical workers said at least six people died Friday when their bus smashed into a goods train in the province of Monastir, about 160 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of the capital, Tunis.
Thirty-two people were also injured in the accident.
Tunisia’s accident rate is considerably high and according to the Tunisian Interior Ministry, road accident fatalities in the country amounted to 1,500 in 2013.
The last train accident which took place on September 24, 2010, killed one person and injured 57 when two trains collided.
Tunisia has recorded approximately 55,000 cases of road accidents so far in 2014. The accidents are mainly attributed to the inattention of the pedestrians and drivers as well as speeding.
