At least one person has reportedly been killed and two others wounded in a car bomb explosion near a police station in the Egyptian city of Alexandria.
According to Egyptian security sources, the attack was carried out in Egypt’s second-biggest city on Tuesday.
There were no immediate details about the identity of the victims.
Security sources also said that unidentified assailants had attacked a police station in western Alexandria with Molotov cocktails, setting it on fire but causing no casualties.
Earlier Sunday, at least 25 people were killed in Egypt when protesters marking the fourth anniversary of Egypt’s 2011 revolution clashed with security forces during rallies against the government of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Supporters of toppled President Mohamed Morsi, who was elected after the ouster of dictator Hosni Mubarak, have staged numerous rallies since he was ousted by then army chief Sisi in 2013. They have been subjected to a heavy-handed crackdown by the Egyptian military-backed government.
