Tagged International Quds Day, the day is set aside by late Imam Khomeini on the last Friday of every month of Ramadan as a day for identifying with the oppressed worldwide.

The Islamic Movement this day commemorated the 33rd in the series in major Nigerian cities across Nigeria with mass participation.

It would be recalled that during the same procession last year, Nigeria soldiers killed 34 members of the Islamic Movement, including three sons of Shaikh Zakzaky.

In Kaduna, participants, men, women and children carrying Palestinian flags and placard denouncing Israel and U.S., took off from Bashama road, passed through Ahmadu Bello Way, Kano road and terminated at Kwanar Chanchangi in Tudunwada. There were also Christian folks among the participants.

Speaking at the close of the procession, Shaikh Muhammad Mukhtar Sahabi narrated the genesis of observing the Quds Day, which he described as an obligation to all Muslims irrespective of school of thought.

He said, atrocities of sponsors of brutal treatment of Palestinians knows no limit, as it has been extended to other parts of the world such as Yemen, Iraq, Burma, etc.

He pointed out that, the oppressors headed by US and Israel are not at ease with Quds Day commemoration and therefore decided to attack last year’s event.

Shaikh Mukhtar Sahabi however said, the Quds Day event has been instituted as a global event that cannot be stopped or suppressed by any force.

Flags of Israel and U.S. were set ablaze to signify resistance to their sponsored atrocities in Palestine and other parts of the world.

The occasion was conducted under tight security surveillance with thousands of people in attendance.

Among the participants were Christian folks, led by Pastor Yohanna Buru who said Quds Day commemoration is justified by the brutal treatment of Muslims and Non-Muslims in Palestine.

According to him, the Jews disobeyed God and were barred from entering Palestine, which he said also justified that Quds belongs to the Muslims.

He however said, collective resistance has to be put in place for Palestine to be free.

Shaikh Zakzaky had on Thursday cautioned on possible attack of the procession by the same sponsors of Palestinian brutality and enemies of humanity.
