The Habargidir Leadership Council has expressed support for the recent consultative conference held by the Muddullod clan in Mogadishu between 3 and 6 August.
It also declared support for the resolutions that came out of the conference, singling out the clan’s stances on the 2020 elections and the status of the Somali capital Mogadishu.
The Muddullod conference had warned against an extension of the current government’s mandate, saying it may lead to political and constitutional chaos in the country.
A press statement issued at the end of the conference had also endorsed the recent legislation granting the region of Banadir, which consists of the country’s capital Mogadishu and surrounding areas, 13 seats in the country’s Upper House of Parliament.
