The Oyo State Command of Nigeria Immigration Service has warned nationals of neighbouring West African countries against sneaking into the country, especially farm labourers.
The Comptroller of Immigration, Oyo State Command, Usman Babangida, said the Federal Government had yet to open the land borders and as a result, nobody was permitted to come into the country.
He said this in an interview with journalists in Ibadan on the sidelines of the send-off party organised in honour of his predecessor, Salleh Abdulahi.
According to him, any illegal immigrant caught will be brought to justice.
Oyo State shares land border with Republic of Benin and it is believed that some foreigners, who are mainly farm labourers, still sneak into the country through illegal routes despite the closure of the borders by the Federal Government.
He said, “If we intercept people coming to Nigeria by any means, we will arrest them. People were arrested around Akwa Ibom State and they were taken to court.”
