Chief of Staff Mohamed Farid and Kenyan Defense Minister Monica Juma signed a technical cooperation agreement during a tour that included Kenya and Rwanda, Egyptian Military Spokesperson Tamer al-Rafae revealed Sunday.
Farid began his tour with Kenya where he met with counterpart Robert Kariuki Kibochi presiding over the third meeting of the Egyptian-Kenyan Military Committee.
The focus was on developing cooperation in the fields of training, qualification, experience transfer, and military capacity-building in a way that reinforces the ability of both parties in deterring challenges to their joint interests and national security.
Both chiefs of staff also discussed mutual challenges and developments on the cross-border regional and international scales and issues influencing the national security of both countries.
As for his visit to Rwanda, the Egyptian chief of staff convened with Rwandan Minister of Defense Albert Murasira to exchange views over regional developments and common security challenges. Later on, he co-chaired with his Rwandan counterpart Jean Bosco Kazura the first meeting of the Egyptian-Rwandan Military Committee. During the meeting, Farid affirmed Egypt's commitment to reinforcing cooperation with the Rwandan military establishment and readiness to fulfill requests for further cooperation in the field of training, qualification, and exchange of experience.
