Controversial South Africa National of Congress Youth leader, Julius Malema, could face genocide charge at the International Court of Justice in The Netherlands with charges from his singing of the song "shoot the boer". According to local media reports a charge has already been lodged with the Netherlands based court.
It is reported that a Rustenburg farmer and his family left South Africa last week for safety fears after deciding to lay the charge against the African National Congress Youth League leader.
Their lawyer, Fanie van der Walt, said the accusations against Malema were sent in writing to the International Court of Justice in the Netherlands on Monday.
The charges relate to Malema singing "shoot the boer", which the Rustenburg farmer interpreted as inciting youth league supporters to commit genocide against Afrikaans boers.
In April this year Eugene Terre'Blanche, the leader of the white supremacist Afrikaner Resistance Movement (AWB), was hacked and bludgeoned to death by two of his farm workers in a move many believe could have been fuelled by the song by Malema.
