Two Sudan Arab tribes have signed a peace deal in the war-torn region of Darfur to end their fight.
Tribe leaders from the Misseriya and Rizeigat groups have reached peace agreement in Zalingei town, west Darfur, on Monday, according to Darfur's U.N./African Union UNAMID mission in a statement.
The agreement came after weeks of meetings between the two groups and officials from the peacekeepers and local government.
The groups have been caught in a series of revenge attacks since the killing of two members of the Misseriya tribe early in March.
UNAMID officials said that the move increased hopes to end tribes’ fight which killed more than 200 people since March.
The war had forced hundreds of civilians to flee from their homes in a fight aimed at taking control of fertile grazing land.
Clashes between rival tribes happened repeatedly in south Sudan because of disagreements over natural resources and other crimes. The civil war in Sudan has killed two million people and forced four million to flee their homes and caused tribe clashes between each other.
