KINSHASA (Reuters) - The United Nations said on Saturday that none of its peacekeepers were killed when a fuel tanker exploded in eastern Congo, correcting an earlier statement saying that five of its soldiers had been killed.
"There are no UN blue helmets dead," Olamide Adedeji, the U.N. mission's head of public information, told Reuters. Adedeji had previously said five peacekeepers were killed trying to help civilians caught up in the incident. The local governor said more than 200 people were killed and 100 injured when a fuel tanker overturned and exploded in Congo's South Kivu province late on Friday.
