A senior Egyptian official Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shousha, has rubbished claims on Tuesday that the rockets that struck the Jordanian port of Aqaba and the vicinity of the neighbouring Israeli city of Eilat the previous day were fired from the Sinai Peninsula.
According to the German Press Agency dpa, Shousha has disclosed that the place where the incident occurred is mountainous zone and makes it impossible to launch a missile.
He stated: "Let the media say whatever they want. The border between Egypt, Israel and Jordan is a region of mountains and it does not make sense to launch the type of missiles they are talking about."
At least one person was killed and five others injured in Aqaba where the five rockets struck though no injuries were reported on the Israeli side.
