A wind of change seems to be blowing in the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, with the emergence of new board members. After the Thursday elections, Aminu Maigari from the North-East Zone, emerged as the new president of the football governing body of the West African Nation.
Maigari was re-elected with a massive 31 votes as against Sani Toro‘s 5 votes and Oyuiki Obaseki’s 4 votes with Shehu Dikko and Fan Ndubuoke getting 2 and 1 votes respectively. Lumuba Adeh got no votes.

The rest of the results show more upsets. Former International Dominic Iorfa lost his seat on the board as two new entrants emerged from the North-central zone, Suleiman Yahaya Kwandeh and Yussuf Ahmed.
In the North-West zone, new board members also emerged. Shehu Ahmed Adamu and Muazu Suleiman with 28 and 24 votes respectively won the available slots.
South-south zone produced Rivers state Football Association Chairman, Barister Chris Green who defeated former Super Eagles Captain Jay Jay Okocha with 23 votes to 8. Female Broadcaster Aisha Falode scored 1 vote.
In South-West it was not former Super Eagles star Mutiu who was elected, rather it was Barrister Adepoju and Deji Tinubu from Lagos who emerged.
South East proved a bad one for “the Chairman” Christian Chukwu, another former Nigerian captain and also a former Super Eagles coach. He was narrowly beaten by Enyimba Chairman Felix Anyansi Agwu who polled 21 votes to 19.
There appears to be a wind of change blowing in the Nigeria Football Federation but it may not be what the public is expecting as lesser known candidates emerged from some of the zones so far concluded.
