A family of six from the undesignated township of Malota in Zambia's tourist capital Livingstone died Tuesday afternoon after a taxi driver who lost control of his car slammed into their seating room killing them on the spot. The family was having lunch at the time the car crashed into their mud house.
By the time AfricaNews reporter got to the scene of the accident, police officers were carrying the bodies of the deceased from the house into a van before being taken to Batoka General Hospital Mortuary.
The driver of the car who sustained serious bruises is admitted to the same hospital under police guard.
Taxi drivers in the city though famous for their courtesy are on the other hand notoriously known for their high speed driving and in most instances ignoring traffic rules.
