The Guinea FA said it has received a fax from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) detailing them to prepare for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Nigeria on October 10.
According to the Guineenews, the FA said: “We have just received a letter from CAF stating that the Guinea-Nigeria match will be held in Conakry on 10 October as planned. The Guinean authorities are requested to take all necessary steps to ensure a proper meeting. We have just informed the national coach Michel Dussuyer.”
CAF Interim Secretary General Hicham El Amramni signed the fax, according to the Guinean FA.
“Furthermore, we have learned from official sources that a decision from FIFA on the lifting of the sanction of Nigeria is being expected at later in the evening,” the Guinean FA official said.
FIFA early this week banned Nigeria from all football activities within two years for government interferences, prompting an automatic cancellation of the Super Eagles match against the Syli National in the second round of the qualifiers.
