The dreaded Somali militia group Al-shabaab has released a radio director after a week of keeping him in custody.

The director of radio Mandeeq was freed along with a reporter from the same broadcaster in the district of Gedo in the southern region of Somalia.

Though Hasan mahamud Halane and Mahamed Kani Kusow were freed, the reason behind their arrest is unknown, according to local media report.

Reports said Kusow has been held in custody more days before his station director was also arrested.
