The official list of the much-awaited GLO/CAF 2010 Footballer of the Year Award will be out in the first week of November, according to the Secretary General of the continental football governing body Hicham El Amrani.
“Any other list making rounds is not from us,” the Moroccan told Goal.com. “We are going according to the procedure. We are taking into account all tournaments of 2010 from club to national team levels including the Nations Cup in Angola and the World Cup in South Africa.”
El Amrani confirmed that a “draft comprehensive list of players” for the Player of the Year based in abroad and Player of the Year based in Africa has been submitted to the Technical and Development Committee and the CAF Media Committee for their final input. The Committees are expected to bring the number down to ten and five for the abroad and home based categories respectively.
The CAF scribe said the number would then be pruned down to three each, after which the 53 federations of CAF would be given the chance to vote for the final nominees.
The awards ceremony would take place in the third week of December but the venue has not yet been decided.
