Uganda has lashed out at the US government for its attempt to secure Uganda’s classified information and other important documents in possession of its permanent representative to the United Nations, Dr.Ruhakana Rugunda.

This after 200,000 pieces of information were released by a whistleblower, Wikileaks which reveals that US Secretary of State ,Hillary Clinton ordered US diplomats to spy on key UN officials.

In an interview with WBS, The State Minister of International Relationals Okello Oryem said this revelation in addition to other reports of spying on presidents in the Great Lakes region may cause mistrust between the two nations.

Worldwide different governments continue to react to leaked reports from wikileaks which show among others US assessment of different heads of government as well as orders to spy on the UN Secretary General, 33 embassies and consulates .

Spying related to Uganda include orders to spy on permanent representative s UN by collecting information such as biometric information as well as on the Heads of government in the Great Lakes region for information such as their health, influence and interaction with one another. This in addition to their close associates heading key government institutions.

So far the US has described the leaks worldwide of over 200,000 reports as not damaging to its diplomatic relations. However Uganda’s State Minister for International Relations, Okello Oryem says the US embassy will have to offer an explanation to the Uganda government about these attempts.

Oryem is also keen to defend the Country’s intelligence saying US attempts to spy on Presidents in the Great Lakes region, president Museveni inclusive will fail

He further argues that Uganda expected this attempt by the US but that US security agents disguising themselves as US diplomats would not make any break through on Ugandan classified information at the UN.

Elsewhere Kenyan government’s spokesperson, Alfred Mutua said the Kenyan government was disappointed over the US dossier as US Assistant Secretary of State apologized to Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga .The leaked report depicts Kenya as a swamp of flourishing corruption.
