Ismaila Lo a Senegalese solo artist and lead vocal of "Iso Lo" has said that Africans must be ready to relinquish power to opponents to avoid unnecessary unrest in the continent.
Lo - a Pan African advocate – told AfricaNews in an exclusive on Tuesday evening before a play back performance in the ongoing third edition of the Global Festival for Black at Estade Demba Diop in the Senegalese capital Dakar that it is unfortunate that African leaders are always reluctant to handover power at end of their mandate leading to civil unrest.
“Unfortunately it is our own children who usually die during such demonstration, while leaders themselves sit comfortably at their places,” he noted.
He noted some countries have significantly improved in terms of democracy and good governance, which is key to Africa’s development. “Previously, people hardly criticize leaders and most of them use to rule for life. But now Africans know their rights and they must not accept such leaders to destabilize the continent, it doesn’t worth killing each other unnecessarily,” he advised.
