NOUAKCHOTT, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- A Mauritanian man on Monday expressed displeasure with the regime by setting himself aflame near the presidential palace in the capital Nouakchott, witnesses reported.

A middle-aged man set himself on fire inside a car after making a statement of "angry" with the government, a witness said.

The man was taken to hospital with injuries after the police intervention.
