20110120 xinhua TUNIS, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- All members of the Tunisia's former ruling party RCD in the new-born interim government quit party, official TAP news agency reported Thursday.
Caretaker President Fouad Mebazaa and Prime Minister Mohammed Ghannouchi announced Tuesday they quit the party. The new interim government, described by opposition as synonymous with the ousted president, has caused large scale protests among the people against RCD involvement in the government.
The interim government, unveiled by the prime minister on Monday, is to convene its first meeting later in the day.
