GABORONE, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Senior law enforcement officials from throughout Africa will meet in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana on Feb. 16-18 for the 21st Interpol African Regional Conference, official sources said on Monday.

In a telephone interview with Xinhua, a public relations officer with the Headquarters of Botswana Police Service said Interpol President Khoon Boon Hui will address the opening ceremony.

According to a statement by Interpol, the meeting will focus on a range of transnational crimes including drug trafficking.

On the opening day, there will be a meeting on the region's operational fights against drug related crimes and other looming threats, such as terrorism and piracy.

The agenda will also cover cooperation in enhancing regional law enforcement against counterfeit medical products, the trafficking of firearms and wildlife crime.
