20110128 Xinhua TUNIS, January 27 (Xinhua) -- Anti-government protestors at the Kasbah square in Tunis have staged their fifth day of sit-in calling for the resignation of the current interim government.
The official press agency TAP reports that a number of protestors went on an unlimited hunger strike on Thursday until the transitional government resigns. Thousands more protestors from Sfax and other Tunisian cities are expected to join them on Friday.
TAP said the demonstrators also tried to enter the security zone surrounding the prime ministry, but the army exhorted them via megaphone to withdraw. Some demonstrators criticized the attitude of Tunisian TV channels, preventing the crew of a private channel to film them.
Government spokesman Taieb Baccouche said earlier on Thursday that the government reshuffle will be announced this evening.
