20110203 Xinhua CAIRO, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- The anti-government protests must end in order to bring normal life back to Egypt before dialogue with the political parties can start, Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman said Wednesday.
The vice president urged citizens to go home and to abide by the curfew to restore security and stability, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.
Suleiman said the dialogue he is engaging in with the political opposition forces requires that the demonstrations end and the situation in Egypt returns to normal.
The former intelligence chief was appointed by President Hosni Mubarak last week as his first vice president in his 30-year ruling.
Mubarak asked Suleiman on Monday to hold immediate talks with all political parties to discuss issues related to the constitutional reforms and specify the proposed amendments and time to execute them.
Mubarak confirmed in his Tuesday speech that he was not intended to stay in office beyond this year and that the dialogue channels are still open.
