20110203 Xinhua ABUJA, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Nigerian federal government has vowed to restore peace and tranquility in troubled northern Plateau and Borno States.
Nigerian Vice President Namadi Sambo restated this determination on Wednesday.
He said various measures had been put in place to ensure that the security situation in the two states as well as other parts of the country are brought under control.
According to him, the government is committed to ensuring that the lives and property of all Nigerians are protected.
He said the government has already embarked on special reforms of the Nigerian Police Force aimed at modernising it to meet all security challenges.
"I want to assure you that the government is doing everything possible so that the unpleasant situation in Plateau State is stopped forthwith," the vice president said.
"Very soon the situation will go back to normal in Plateau and Borno states and other states of the federation," Sambo said.
