CAIRO, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Saturday held a ministerial meeting attended by the prime minister, central bank governor, ministers of petroleum, social solidarity, trade and industry and finance, state media reported.
The meeting was held at the Heliopolis presidential headquarters in Cairo, the MENA news agency reported, as anti- Mubarak protests entered their 12th day. Health authorities said some 5,000 people were injured since the protests began on Jan. 25, but gave no information about the death toll.
Egypt's exports decreased by six percent in January, Minister of Trade and Industry Samiha El-Sayed Ibrahim said after the meeting.
The government will take measures to maintain the economic stability, he said, adding that food supplies are sufficient and a lot of factories resumed operation on Saturday.
Mubarak has promised that he would not run for next term. He also ordered constitutional reforms and invited all political parties for talks on economic and political reforms.

Egypt PM says "We need Mubarak in power for legislative reasons"
CAIRO, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- As tens of thousands packed central Cairo Friday to force President Hosni Mubarak to immediately end his 30-year rule, Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq said Mubarak should be in power for "legislative reasons."
"Mubarak, as a president, is a source for the country's security," he told Dubai-based Al-Arabiya TV, ruling out a possibility that Mubarak could turn over his power to his deputy Omar Suleiman. Full story
U.S, Egyptian officials discuss power transition proposals: report
WASHINGTON, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The White House is in close talks with Egyptian officials on Egypt's power transition amid the country's current political unrest, the New York Times reported on Thursday.
According to one of the proposals, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak would hand power over to a transitional government led by his deputy Omar Suleiman, who would then begin a process of constitutional reform with the support of the military, the report said, quoting U.S. officials and Arab diplomats. Egyptian gov't, opposition in talks to end crisis
CAIRO, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's Vice President Omar Suleiman said the government has started dialogue with the opposition parties and representatives of protesters to end the mass protests that began on Jan. 25.
The Muslim Brotherhood has been invited to meet with the government but they are still hesitant, Suleiman said in an interview with Egyptian state TV on Thursday. Full story
