KHARTOUM, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Sunday vowed to provide freedom for all, affirming that his government does not fear people's revolution against it after a wave of popular uprisings at the Arab region that toppled Tunisian and Egyptian presidents.
"Freedom is granted for all the people. We are not afraid. We do not prevent the people from expressing their opinions, but rather we listen to them and we want to know their demands and their legitimate aspirations," said al-Bashir when addressing a people's gathering in North Sudan on Sunday that was aired live by Sudan TV.
He further hailed the January 25th revolution in Egypt, which ended the rule of President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, and described the Egyptian uprising as "legitimate".
He also commended the Tunisian revolution which toppled the Tunisian president Zainal Abidin bin Ali.
"Sudan's youths will be a support for the youths of Egypt and Tunisia and will support their blessed revolution and legitimate demands," said al-Bashir.
Sudan's political arena has recently witnessed intensive moves under expectations on formation of a new government following the official announcement of separation of south Sudan, which necessitates constitutional and executive amendments.
The Sudanese opposition demanded the formation of a national government, while the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) proposed a broad-based government in which all political forces participate.
