20110203 Xinhua LUSAKA, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Some 38 people were feared dead when a boat capsized Tuesday night on Lake Mweru in Nchelenge district in north Zambia's Luapula province.
According to evening news of Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) on Wednesday, the incident happened when 42 people were going fishing. Four have been rescued while 38 of them still went missing.
The provincial permanent secretary Besa Chimbaka said authorities have dispatched dozens of security officers to search for the missing people.
According to the Zambian official, the rescue team is trying to
find out if some of them swam in to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) who shares the lake with Zambia. But he said that hope for their survival is slim.
Zambian police also confirmed that among the 42 people on board 15 were Congolese.
